GENERAL COMMENTS
This edition of the Divine Liturgy of the Armenian Church was published in 2000 by the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, and has become the dominant liturgy book used in America and other English-speaking countries. It has slowly replaced a handful of earlier editions and translations, though many people and churches still use the earlier versions. A collective effort of the Diocese, the Modern Armenian translation is by Father Arshen Aivazian. In the hardcover version, the first half of the book has Classical Armenian in transliteration with the English translation facing, and the second half of the book has Classical Armenian (in the Armenian alphabet) with the modern (Western) Armenian translation facing. There is also a spiral-bound softcover version that pairs the Classical Armenian in Armenian with the English translation.
