GENERAL COMMENTS
This version of the Divine Liturgy of the Armenian Church, first printed in 1969, with editions in 1971 and 1974, by the order Archbishop Torkom Manoogian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, was the primary pew-book for most parishes in both dioceses of the United States for nearly fifty years. Today, it has largely been replaced by the 2000 edition. However, with a multi-colored text denoting singing vs. reciting (especially for Lenten services), it is still used. Archbishop (later Patriarch of Jerusalem) was musically inclined, and this edition probably reflects much of his own work.
