An accessible and concise, but well-researched introduction to the practice of Armenian miniature painting of illuminated manuscripts, with a focus on the famous painter Toros Roslin (1210-1270, active in the Cilicia region). By V. Rev. Fr. Vatché Iknadiossian, a long-time priest in Marseille. The first part is a general introduction to and history of Armenian miniature painting and to Armenian writing and manuscript production. The second part focuses specfically on the Cilician period of Armenian manuscript production (ca. 1080-1375), with a final full chapter dedicated to the most famous Armenian miniature painter, Toros Roslin. Includes a bibliography with books and articles in Armenian, French, and English. A French version of an earlier Armenian text, presented on the occassion of the 1700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity as the state religion of Armenia.
