CONTENT DESCRIPTION
Part of a series on the lives of the saints, this part focuses on Saint Macarius of Egypt, also known as Saint Macarius the Great. Macarius the Great is a well known early Egyptian hermit who lived in the fourth century.
GENERAL COMMENTS
It is not clear from which language the text was translated, but most probably it was from English. The date is also unknown, but the latest possible year must have been 2012, since there is a photo of Pope Shenouda III, who passed away in 2012.
The booklet, like other hagiographies which are part of the same series, is meant to be a complementary educational and informative material for children. For example, children learn about important saints of the Coptic Church in the Sunday schools, so reading a short booklet written in a simple language would help them solidify their knowledge about certain saints.
