GENERAL COMMENTS
"In this book a serious attempt is made to sketch as complete a picture as possible of the the Armenians currently living in the Netherlands." (From the back cover). Includes a foreward by M. Hakhverdian, the chairman of the Federatie Armeense Organisaties Nederland (FAON). Chatper 1, "Sketch of land and people," is an introduction to the Armenian people. Chapter 2, "The Armenian community in the Netherlands," provides a history of Armenians in the Netherlands to the moment of publication. Chapter 3, "Research Design," introduces the sociological research undertaken by G.J.M. Veerman with a contribution from J.J.S. Weitenberg, specifically the large survey project undertaken, which garned 502 responses (pg. 56). The responses from that survey are presented in Chatper 4, "The Results of the Survey." Chapter 5, "Recap and Conclusions," draws insights from the survey responses to make more general statements about the Armenians in the Netherlands. The Appendixes include letters from various organizations, information about the survey and the letter sent out with the survey in both Dutch and Eastern Armenian, the survey questions and tables of the survey results. A brief bibliography, futher reading list, and relevant websites are included. FAON, the organization sponsoring the research and the publication, is a coordinating organization for the various Armenian organizations in the Netherlands.
