GENERAL COMMENTS
The booklet with basic Christian teaching in Q&A form was first published by the later patriarch Mor Ignatius Ehrem I Barsoum (d. 1957), in 1912 (then bishop of Syria/Lebanon). It was translated in English in 1950 (/1999), later also in German (1995); 'now' (2002) in Dutch for the Dutch Sunday schools, asked for by the then Metropolitan of the Syriac Orthodox Middle Europe diocese (which included the Netherlands), Mor Julius Cicek. The translator Gewargic Aces was supported by Abuna (dr. J.C.J.) Sanders and Prof. dr. A. Scheer (KU Nijmegen).
