GENERAL COMMENTS
The month of Kiyahk holds a special place in the Coptic tradition. It is also called the Month of Mary. It is the fourth month of the Coptic calendar. This prayer book was arranged according to the teachings of the early Fathers of the Coptic Orthodox Church. There are several possible spelling versions of the respective month, some of them include: Kiyahk, Kiahk, Koiak, Xoiak, etc. There is a possibility that the author (editor) of the book made a spelling mistake in the Coptic title, adding a superfluous 'ⲩ' (ypsilon) in the Coptic name of the month (the most common and correct form would be 'ⲭⲟⲓⲁⲕ').
