CONTENT DESCRIPTION
The book tells the story of Saint Hilaria, the daughter of the Roman Emperor Zeno. It includes stories of her childhood, arrival to Egypt and the monastery of St. Macarious, where she had to hide and disguise as a male monk.

GENERAL COMMENTS
According to tradition, Hilaria had to escape to Egypt from her pagan father, emperor Zeno, and thus disguised as a male monk at the St. Macarios monastery. Although much of the story cannot be verified by historical sources (including the fact that she was King Zeno's daughter), Hilaria is recognized as a saint in the liturgical calendars of the Coptic Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox and Ethiopian Tawahedo churches.
