GENERAL COMMENTS
In the preface, H.G. Bishop Demetrius highlights the importance of learning Coptic and adds that the language is used not only in the Church but it is present in the Copts' daily speech (possibly alluding to various Coptic words used by the Copts in their daily church life, as well as to the alleged Coptic origin of certain words in the Egyptian Arabic vernacular). The Bishop writes that the book offers an easy and simple method for learning Coptic, which can help many Coptic believers to learn to read, speak and understand different parts of the Coptic liturgy, hymns and numerous words used in daily life.
This is the first part of the series and the fourth edition of the book (the first edition was published in 1987).
