GENERAL COMMENTS
Sayat-Nova (1722(?)-1795) is one of the best-known Armenian poets. Coming from the "troubador" tradition of the South Caucasus, he wrote in multiple languages. Some of the musical settings of his poems/odes are still known. While not explicitly linked to the Armenian Church, his biography does link him to the Church and his work forms an important touchstone for Armenian Christians. Translated with notes, introduction, and preface by Elisabeth Mouradian and Serge Venturini.
